The Burr Book Swap is Returning!

How does it work?
Check your bookshelves at home for books you've read and are ready to pass along to someone else at Burr School to enjoy. Bring the books to school (in a bag marked "Book Swap") between May 31 and June 6. On Wednesday, June 8 all classrooms will visit the Book Swap and students will be able to pick out at least two books to take home to keep and read.

What kind of books would be good for the Burr Book Swap?
  • Picture books
  • Series books - Dog Man, Elephant and Piggie, Magic Tree House, Baby Mouse...
  • cool non-fiction books
  • chapter books
  • and MORE!
Please do not bring in books that are in poor condition, preschool books, activity/workbooks, or books that are better for older children or adults.

The best part?
The Book Swap is FREE and EVERYONE will be able to pick out books to take home and read.

Volunteer to help sort books the evenings of June 6 or 7; or come June 8 and help kids select their books with their classes. Sign up here to help.

We wanted to share a quick update on the BURR car magnets that were promised as part of the Wolf Fund fundraising. We will let everyone know as soon as we have them, but wanted you to know we have not forgotten. Thank you for your continued patience!  ––The Burr PTO Board

MAY FAIR

Yesterday's May Fair was a great success and we want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make that happen. We couldn't have done it without an amazing May Fair committee this year, led by Deanna Salemme.  In addition, so many members of our community volunteered their time to bake for the bake sale, run a game, set up or clean up, and more. This event takes a large number of volunteers and our community really came through.

Congratulations to Xavier Rutt and Tea Fujisaki for their wonderful cakes that won the cake decorating contest.  And a big thank you to our guest judges Mayor Ruthanne Fuller and Sloane Sheffer Goldhagen.

And new this year- the Pie in the Face was SO MUCH FUN!!! Thank you to Ms McMahon, Ms Robinson, Ms Young and Ms Johal for being such good sports!

Thanks one last time to our sponsors:
Lead Sponsors:
Village Bank

Board elections for the next school year are coming May 18. This year we are looking for a Co-President, and two Community Events Chairs.  The board is comprised of 10-12 volunteers who are elected for a 2 year term. These roles generally require 8-15 hrs/month of commitment, including monthly board meetings, and various committee/community meetings. If you want to help support great community events like BooFest, the Burr World Cultures Event, STEAMFair, Creative Arts and Sciences and more- we'd love to work with you!  Reach out to anyone on the board or email info@burrpto.org for more information by Friday May 13

To make this event a roaring success we need volunteers to run it - sell pizza/baked goods/tickets, work a game (we have instructions and most are pretty simple), etc. Please considering signing up to run a game or table for an hour while your kids enjoy all the activities!
