THE BURR PTO PRESENTS

World Cultures Celebration 2018

Dear Burr Families,

This year marks the return of Burr’s World Cultures Celebration on April 28th, 4:00-6:30. It is a joyous event and a true jewel in our school’s diversity crown. Through the imagination and creativity of host family volunteers, classrooms will be transported into the many native and ancestral countries that make up our community. In essence, the World Cultures Celebration allows our students and their families to travel the world, all without leaving the school. To make this event possible, we need your help. We have several families already signed up to host a room country including India, Greece, Zimbabwe, Jamaica, Pakistan, Mexico, China, and Kenya, but we need more.

So, if you have a collection of treasured family “artifacts,” photos, an idea for a craft, songs you can teach, a simple toy you can make, etc. then you’ll be perfect! If you want to help but are not sure what to do, we can come up with ideas together. Please contact Janhavi Wadhwani at janhavi108@yahoo.com or Tamika Olszewski at tamikaolszewski@yahoo.com by Tuesday, March 27th and let’s start planning our itinerary!

Burr welcomes Middlesex South District Attorney for a special presentation on keeping kids safe online

The Burr PTO is proud and excited to welcome Middlesex South District Attorney Marian Ryan to our next PTO meeting on Wednesday, April 4th to share her expertise on internet safety and how best to keep our kids safe when they are online. There are many ways our kids (yes, even at this young age) can be exposed to dangers in today's digital world, including social networking through online games, websites, newsgroups and more.  This is a rare opportunity to learn from one of Boston's foremost experts on this topic, so you won't want to miss it.

Join us at 6:30pm to hear all the latest happenings in the PTO, and plan for DA Ryan to start her presentation at 7pm. Mark your calendars and join us for this important (and free!) Burr event.

NEED BABYSITTING? WE CAN HELP!!
Through a new arrangement between the Burr PTO and Plowshares, Newton North's in-house preschool, several high school students from Newton North will be on hand at Burr to provide FREE child care during the presentation. You must RSVP in advance for child care. Availability is limited so sign up below!
