Option 1: Donate Baked Goods – Bake or buy treats to donate! Make sure they’re individually wrapped (Ziploc bags work perfectly). You can drop off baked goods on Monday, November 3rd between 8AM–6PM at the Burr School front door, where a donation bin will be available — or bring them directly on Tuesday, November 4th during the bake sale event. Option 2: Help at the Table – Be part of the fun by selling baked goods to support the Burr community. Sign up to volunteer for helping here.
Let’s make it a meaningful and fun day for everyone.

🪔 Diwali - The Festival Of Lights 🪔




Join us in celebrating the Festival of Lights at our Diwali Event on Saturday, November 8th from 3:00–5:00 PM in the Burr Cafeteria! Families will enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with delicious Indian food, a henna station, and a crafts table for kids to get creative. Groove to Bollywood beats with an energetic BollyX dance session, cheer on our kids’ dance performances, and don’t miss the festive fashion show!

If your child would like to participate in the fashion show, please email pooja@burrpto.org with your child’s name, outfit type (male/female), and size. We’ll do our best to arrange an outfit—availability is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. We’ll also be playing Diwali Bingo and organizing more fun activities for all ages!

These everyday items make a big difference in keeping kids active and happy at recess. 💙

Join Us to Get the Burr Garden Ready for Fall!
We’re looking for volunteers to help prepare the garden for the upcoming season—and we’d love for you and your family to join us!

Here’s how you can help:
  • Harvest any remaining plants
  • Prune and trim plants and trees
  • Pull fencing and signs from garden beds
  • Prep areas for fall bulb planting
  • Weed front garden bed
Make it a family hangout!
Bring your kids and come enjoy time with other Burr families. Whether you’re digging in the dirt or just hanging out by the playground, all are welcome!

What to bring (if you have them):
  • Garden gloves
  • Shears/ hedge trimmers/ saw/ weed wacker
  • Water bottles

Halloween Fun for the Whole Family!




Calling all little ghouls, ghosts, and superheroes! Newton Cultural Development invites you to two great events on Sunday October 26, Halloween Window Painting weekend:

On Sunday morning, we'll see you at the West Newton Cinema at 11am for a special screening of Hotel Transylvania. Click here for details. Halloween Window painters get in for free!

Later that day please join us for a Family Concert with the New Philharmonia Orchestra at 4pm. Get ready for a spooktacular concert filled with Halloween tunes, then stick around for an instrument petting zoo where kids of all ages can try out the orchestra’s “magic wands” (a.k.a. instruments)! Costumes are highly encouraged! The concert will be held at the brand-new Newton Community Stage at 15 Walnut Park, Lincoln-Eliot School. Admission is free, but seats are limited, and we expect a full house—Sign up HERE to reserve your tickets today!  Come at 3:45 for the ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of this new venue. Special Education Parent Advisory Council


As this year’s SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) liaisons for Burr, we wanted to reach out to introduce ourselves. In our roles, we are here to support your families on your special education journeys. Please reach out to us anytime if we can help support you individually or as a community. 

If you are new to learning about SEPAC, you can find more information here, including monthly open meetings to learn about special education initiatives across the district and to share thoughts/questions. SEPAC-produced educational events also are shared here. The next event is a virtual Meet the (School Committee) Candidates on October 22nd and 23rd. You can sign up for the event(s) and submit questions through the link.
