Does Your Child Have an IEP or 504 Plan?

Then check out the Newton SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) at newtonpac.org.

We are a volunteer organization of parents of children with special needs from preschool through high school. We run an online forum where parents can ask other parents about special education programs, issues, policies, and resources. We also sponsor monthly informational meetings and work directly with the school administration regarding our children’s education.

We are also in need of a parent representative from Burr! If you are interested in the position or would like more information about the SEPAC in general, please contact Liaison Coordinator Kim Gallaugher at momofiggy@hotmail.com or 617-335-8140

 THE BURR PTO PRESENTS

Burr Wolf Fund

The Burr Wolf Fund launched last week is accepting contributions now through January 31, 2018.  You can contribute to the Wolf Fund by sending a check (made payable to Burr PTO) in your child's folder or going to Burr PTO's website at www.burrpto.org and clicking on the "donate" link to donate via PayPal.

The Burr Wolf Fund is the PTO's annual fall fundraiser that raises a significant portion of the PTO's budget and  helps pay for the PTO's two largest (and two very important) line items: Creative Arts and Sciences and technology.

Creative Arts and Sciences (CAS) provides multiple curriculum-aligned programs at each grade level. CAS is fully funded by the PTO. The PTO purchases technology, like iPads and interactive projectors, for use in classrooms. The PTO also funds other curriculum and enrichment programs, community building events, teacher supplies, the 5th grade fund and more.

This year's Burr Wolf Fund goal is to raise $26,000 by January 31, 2018. Please contribute an amount you are comfortable with: we greatly appreciate any and all contributions! Every contribution makes a difference in our students' experience at Burr!

If you have any questions, please email the Burr Wolf Fund team at wolffund@burrpto.org

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL

International Walk to School Day — October 4, 2017

This Wednesday, Oct. 4, Burr join thousands of children around the world to participate in International Walk to School Day!

Make plans to leave the car at home and walk or bike with friends and neighbors!  If you can’t walk with your kids, arrange for them to walk with a friend. Taking the bus also reduces the number of cars on the road, so kids riding the bus are participating too!

Please make every effort to participate – the goal of this event is to show how much healthier and more fun it is to walk to school – and how much safer our school zone is without all the cars.  The hope is that after participating, families will continue to walk whenever possible.

Learn more about Safe Routes at Burr:  https://www.burrpto.org/safe-routes-to-school

Can you help the morning of the event? Want to get involved with other Walk/Bike and Safe Routes activities?  We could use your help!   Email the board:  pto-board@burrpto.org
