Newton Child Assault Prevention (CAP) Program Seeking Volunteers
Do you believe that all children have the right to be Safe, Strong and Free? Join this dynamic task force of trained volunteer CAP Prevention Specialists committed to teaching children in the Newton Elementary Schools the skills that they would need to stand up for themselves if faced with verbal, physical or sexual assault.
The CAP Program is now accepting applications for the 2016 – 2017 school year. The next multi-session training begins on October 15th. CORI and SORI screenings required.

Fall Plant Fundraising Sale by Newton Youth Hockey
Summer days are fleeting and fall is just around the corner! Bring beautiful color back to your yard and doorstep with mums and asters! All proceeds from fall plant fundraising sale benefit Newton Youth Hockey, a nonprofit and all volunteer-run program serving area youths, age 4-17 years old with programming, including Learn to Skate, Learn to Play, Girls programs, and the Travel teams—Mites, Squirts, Peewees, Bantams, and Midgets.

Newton Science Club for Girls: Free Programs for K-8 Girls
Science Club for Girls is a nonprofit organization that increases confidence and literacy in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for underrepresented girls by using experiential and hands-on learning in out-of-school time clubs by maximizing interactions with female mentor scientists. There are programs in Cambridge, Boston, Brookline, Lawrence, and Newton. For more information about the organization and programs please visit the website.
Science Club for Girls runs Kindergarten – 5th grade clubs and STEMinistas (6th-8th grade) clubs at Pine Manor College on Heath Street, Saturdays from 2:45 – 4:15 pm, beginning the end of September. To apply, please visit the website and click the appropriate program tab at the top!

Girls Basketball Developmental Skills and Drills
Be ready for the upcoming Winter basketball season! Fall Session begins September 19th and runs through November 4th. Come join the Girls Developmental Skills and Drills program. There are also a couple of spots to fill on the 4th and 5th grade AAU Teams.
The Boston Emeralds Basketball Program is an all girls developmental basketball program that prepares girls for higher level basketball. Their primary focus is on the development of these young female athletes. The goal is to develop good basketball “habits” by teaching the fundamentals in a fun and encouraging manner, promoting a passion for the game while improving all-around basketball skills.
