Rob Aptaker and the Ways of the Wampanoag—March 2, 2018

Creative Arts and Sciences Welcomes
Rob Aptaker and The Ways of the Wampanoag
(3rd Grade)

Who were the first people of Massachusetts? We will learn about the Wampanoag People at the time of their first contact with the colonial settlers: their clothing, tools, toys, musical instruments, medicine, homes, transportation, agriculture and hunting/fishing/gathering and tools. We will get a glimpse of their family life, seasonal activities, social structure, recreation and culture. Our presenter, Rob Aptaker, will use music and a smattering of Wampanoag language to help students connect with the reality that a wholly different culture existed in Massachusetts and preceded the one they see here now.
